“Reflexive” here does not refer simply to thinking, but to parties’ continual monitoring of their in vivo social productions; by a sort of feedback, members of a social enterprise adjust their behaviour to produce the necessary social alignments and to develop and achieve the practical interests at hand. That is, social life is dynamic, and any scientific social research will capture it as such, spurning any opportunity to reduce it to a more easily tamable but static literary reduction.
